November 18-19, 2008, Moscow - 8th meeting of INTERSPUTNIK Operations Committee

Moscow, Russian Federation (November 19, 2008) - Attended by the delegations of INTERSPUTNIK Signatories, the 8th meeting of the Organization's Operations Committee was held in Moscow on November 18-19 on Intersputnik Director's General's invitation.

The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Operations Committee Ye.Buydinov, RSCC Investment Projects Director.

The opening ceremony of the 8th meeting of the Operations Committee drew to a close as the new Signatory of the Organization - the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan - signed the Operating Agreement of INTERSPUTNIK.

The meeting of the Operations Committee addressed a wide range of issues related to the current performance and development prospects of INTERSPUTNIK. INTERSPUTNIK's Director General presented a report on the Organization's activity after the previous meeting of the Operations Committee. The activity of the Directorate during the period under review won a high appraisal of the Operations Committee. The delegates heard the accounts of Mrs. E.Girnus, Acting President of INTERSPUTNIK's subsidiary Intersputnik Holding Ltd. and Mr. K.Nurmatov, Director General, Isatel LLC (Kyrgyzstan), both companies being members of the Intersputnik Holding group.

Special emphasis was laid on INTERSPUTNIK's financial and economic performance as the Operations Committee approved the Organization's Finance Plan for 2009 and made a number of decisions on this issue.

The Operations Committee discussed and approved amendments to the INTERSPUTNIK Operating Agreement as one of INTERSPUTNIK's fundamental regulatory documents. For the amendments approved by the Operations committee to take effect, these amendments should be ratified by the Board of the Organization.

The next 9th meeting of the Operations Committee and the XXXVII session of the Intersputnik Board will be held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, in April 2009.

Founded in 1971 under the intergovernmental Agreement on the Establishment of the INTERSPUTNIK International System and Organization of Space Communications, INTERSPUTNIK is an international intergovernmental organization headquartered in Moscow, Russia. The Organization's mission is to contribute to the strengthening and development of economic, scientific, technical and cultural relations by communications as well as by radio and television broadcasting via satellites; cooperation and coordination of efforts of the member-countries in designing, establishing, operating and developing an international satellite communications system. Also, it provides full-scale services related to the establishment and operation of satellite telecommunications networks via its subsidiary Intersputnik Holding Ltd.

Under a long-term partnership with the Russian satellite operator RSCC, INTERSPUTNIK offers its customers service on Express-A- and Express-AM-series satellites. The Organization is the official distributor of satellite resource and services of the European satellite operator Eutelsat S.A., and the Asian operator Measat (Africasat 1 satellite), markets and sells Intelsat satellite capacity and provides services on the ABS-1 spacecraft. INTERSPUTNIK's customers are government and private companies in over forty countries.
