Born on January 22, 1955 in Washington, D.C. In 1977, graduated from Moscow Institute of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.
From 1977 to 1983 Mr. V. Veshchunov was a staff member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Started as a desk officer and worked his way up to become Head of Division for International Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space within the Department for International Scientific and Technological Cooperation. In 1993, Mr. V. Veshchunov was transferred as an expert to the Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications. In 2008, appointed Executive Director.
Mr. V. Veshchunov is a full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics, member of the Russian Association of International Law, a member of the International Institute of Space Law (Paris), the International Legal Association (London), the American Institute of Astronautics (Reston, Va.), a corresponding member of the International Astronautical Federation (Paris), a full member (academician) of the International Telecommunications Academy (Moscow).
Mr. V. Veshchunov has over 20 publications concerning international space law and the activity of Intersputnik. He is a co-author of the textbook International Space Law.
