Video Distribution

Satellite communications is the most efficient solution for the distribution of TV and radio programming to cover 100% of population regardless of the ground infrastructure, relief, climate or seismic peculiarities.

The TV and radio distribution service is intended for:

  • TV and radio broadcasting companies and TV channels wishing to transmit their programming via satellite in order to maximize their audience;
  • regional administrations and TV and radio companies wishing to have their own satellite service.

A compact hub stations with a 2.4 m or larger antenna can be installed on the premises of a studio or transmitting center. Video and audio signals coming from the studio are compressed using an MPEG codec and transmitted to the satellite as a digital signal. The DVB signal is broadcast via satellite to an unlimited number of viewers in the coverage area.

Reception is provided using standard satellite IRD stations such as, for example, cable head-ends of local operators. The digital receive station includes a small dish and a digital DVB receiver with a digital or analog video/audio output. The receiver can be connected directly to on-air transmitters or a cable network.

Approximately four to six MHz of satellite bandwidth are required to broadcast a single MPEG TV channel. The number of channels in the package can be increased as it becomes necessary. Such networks can be upgraded for access to the internet and telephony if the receive stations are replaced with VSAT terminals.
